Calling for help
Call 911 – if your buddy is unconscious, cannot tell you the time of day or where they are, is seriously injured, has difficulty breathing, or is engaged in dangerous behavior (insisting on running down the middle of the street). Your first priority is to make sure your buddy is safe and receives proper treatment. If you are unsure whether or not to call 911... CALL 911!
Doing the right thing
Housing staff, medical personnel, and law enforcement are primarily concerned about health and safety. The reality is, if you call 911, you might get your buddy in trouble. On the other hand, you might just save their life. You may worry that alerting the housing staff, or calling 911, will have negative outcomes for you or your friends. The person calling 911 will not get in trouble, however, the person requiring medical assistance is responsible for their behavior.
